Low Income Rider

Customers that qualify for this program will not be billed the Residential Service Customer Charge. To qualify, the customer must be receiving food stamp benefits from the Texas Department of Human Services and the electric service account must be in the same name as the name on the customer’s food stamp notice of eligibility. Only the residential service customer charge will not be billed, the water heater meter customer charge will still be billed if your residence has one. The low income rider is valid for 12 months provided the customer remains on the food stamp program with the Texas Department of Human Services. El Paso Electric will send a reminder on the customer’s bill that the low income rider is about to expire on the 10th month. If the customer is still receiving food stamps, he will need to bring another notice of eligibility from the Texas Department of Human Services before the 12th month to continue the discount.
