40,000 CFLs To Be Given Away in New Mexico

October 29, 2010

Compact fluorescents offer many advantages over the commonly used incandescent light bulbs.  CFLs last up to 10 times longer, they produce 75 percent less heat while producing equivalent light output, and they use 25 percent of the energy that an incandescent uses which is the reason they reduce monthly electric bills.
New Mexico customers can pick up 4 CFL bulbs by redeeming a special coupon that was included with their October electric bills or by filling out acoupon available at each redemption location.  The CFL giveaway will be held, while supplies last, on Saturdays November 6 and 13 at the following locations.

November 6 and 13, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Anthony:  Walgreens, 1432 Antonio St.
• Hatch:  Do It Best, 703 West Hall St.
• Las Cruces:  Walgreens Locations, 3100 N. Main St, 2300 E. Lohman Ave., and 2700 W. Picacho Ave.
• Santa Teresa:  Santa Teresa High School, 100 Airport Rd.

November 6, 13, and 15-24, during normal business hours
• Las Cruces: Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 2301 S. Main St.

“CFLs have an impact on energy bills, energy usage and the environment from the moment they’re installed,” said Paul Royalty, Manager of Energy Efficiency and Utilization at El Paso Electric. “El Paso Electric is pleased to give its customers the opportunity to reduce their energy usage by offering this CFL giveaway program as well as other energy efficiency programs.”
