El Paso Community College President Dr. Richard Rhodes and El Paso Electric Chief Executive Officer David Stevens today announced a collaborative project to install a solar photovoltaic system at the Advanced Technology Center of the El Paso Community College’s Valle Verde Campus.

El Paso Electric is to install solar panels that will generate up to 18 kW of electricity of which two kW will be donated to EPCC for use in its renewable energy curriculum. This will facilitate the region’s ability to grow the use of renewable resources.  EPE will also share system generation data with EPCC for curriculum purposes.

“We’re very excited about this very important collaboration with the El Paso Community College and want to thank Dr. Rhodes for his leadership.  This project is part of an on-going commitment by El Paso Electric relating to solar energy research, education and utilization in our area,” said Stevens.
