The first participant in El Paso Electric’s Refrigerator/Freezer Recycle Program will be recognized by El Paso Electric on Wednesday, April 28, at 1 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Folmar became the first customer to take El Paso Electric up on its offer to pickup and recycle old working refrigerator/freezers and pay customers $30 to do it. On April 28, Mr. and Mrs. Folmar will not only receive $30, but will also receive a gift from El Paso Electric that includes items to make their home more energy efficient.
El Paso Electric’s Refrigerator/Freezer Recycle Program gives EPE customers an effective way to do their share to protect the environment. Refrigerators and freezers picked up through the program are recycled by JACO Environmental, which recycles 95 percent of each refrigerator for use in a variety of other products, while also safely extracting toxins found inside refrigerators that include contaminated oils, mercury and CFCs. In addition to the free pickup, customers receive $30. El Paso Electric customers can call 1-877-643-1956 or visit www.epelectric.com and click on energy efficiency to get more information or to schedule a pick-up.
