The City of El Paso and El Paso Electric to Offer $2.5 million in Incentives for Solar Panel Installations

November 29, 2010

The funds will be administered through EPE’s Solar PV Pilot Program which offers financial incentives to El Paso Electric customers to help reduce the cost of installing solar energy systems. The solar energy rebate could reduce the cost of a typical system by up to 30 percent.

Beginning Dec. 1, $1.35 million in funds will become available on a first-come, first-served basis. EPE customers must apply for the solar energy rebates through an EPE-authorized service provider.
“The City is very pleased to offer this incentive with our partners at El Paso Electric,” Mayor John Cook said.  “This program will have a very real impact in moving the Sun City to become the ‘Solar City.’”

The funding from the City of El Paso is provided as part of its commitment to reduce energy consumption, create jobs and lower carbon emissions.

“We are very happy to partner with the City of El Paso in a project that will increase the use of solar power in our Sun City,” said Richard Fleager, El Paso Electric Senior Vice President, Customer Care and External Affairs.  “We hope that homeowners and businesses take advantage of this great program.”
