Vice President, Human Resources
As Vice President of Human Resources, Richard G. Gonzalez is responsible for directing El Paso Electric’s human resources services and functions, including employee relations, employee development, labor relations, compensation and benefits management.
Most recently, Gonzalez served as Director of Human Resources for Petro Stopping Centers, L.P., a nation-wide chain of truck stops with $2 billion in annual sales and more than 5,300 employees. Prior to that, Gonzalez served as Director of Human Resources for The Eureka Company, a division of AB Electrolux. In that position, he was responsible for a multi-site twin plant operation with more than 2,800 employees in Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, TX. Gonzalez’ work experience also includes positions as Human Resources Team Manager for TRW Vehicle Safety Systems, Inc. in Arizona, Human Resources Manager at Borden Pasta in Arizona and Washington and Group Manager at Border Personnel, Johnson & Johnson Medical in Texas.
Gonzalez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas – Pan American in Edinburg, Texas, as well as a Master’s degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University. He recently served as Chairperson for The Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce’s Education and Workforce Development Committee and continues on the Chamber’s Board, has served as a board member of the Upper Rio Grande Workforce Development Board, and is a current member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the El Paso Society for Human Resources Management.
