El Paso Electric’s (EPE) Board of Directors elected native El Pasoan Adrian Rodriguez as an Officer of the Company, and announced his promotion to the position of Vice President - General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. Adrian Rodriguez has been with EPE since 2013.
“Adrian is an excellent example of the enormous talent we have in this region, and we are very happy to welcome him into this new position as we strongly believe in hiring locally,” said Mary Kipp, Chief Executive Officer of El Paso Electric. “His extensive legal experience, dedication and work ethic will help continue leading our company towards exceptional service to our community.”
A graduate of Eastwood High School, Rodriguez, 39, received his Bachelor of Arts with highest honors in Economics and Government from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a State of Texas recipient of the 1999 Truman Scholarship, a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University where he was the editor-in-chief of the Harvard Journal of Hispanic Policy, and a Juris Doctorate from Columbia University School of Law where he was a managing editor of the Columbia Law Review.
Before joining El Paso Electric, Rodriguez was an attorney in the Dallas office of international law firm Vinson & Elkins LLP, where he practiced in the energy regulation practice group and complex commercial litigation practice group. Rodriguez also served as a law clerk to the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas in San Antonio. Prior to his legal career, Rodriguez provided policy analysis, political research and legislative research for state legislative offices, issue advocacy and political campaigns, and a Washington DC-based communications firm.
Rodriguez’s commitment to this region includes involvement on the Finance Committee of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation and serving as a member of the Boy Scouts Yucca Council Executive Board, Texas Tech University Health Science Center Hunt School of Nursing Advisory Board and Board of the El Paso Texas Association of Sports Officials for football.
Rodriguez replaces John Boomer, EPE's Senior Vice President and General Counsel, who will be retiring in early July of this year.
"The company appreciates the numerous contributions to EPE and the community made by Mr. Boomer, and we wish him success in his future endeavors," said Kipp.
