The El Paso Electric Company announced its commitment of $25,000 to the 2014-15 EPISD Education Foundation on Tuesday and will serve as this year’s honorary chair for the Campaign for Excellence. The $25,000 financial gift supports the mission of the Education Foundation to provide scholarships to deserving high school seniors and classroom impact grants to enhance the education for all students.
“El Paso Electric has a long history of giving back to the community we serve and live in," said Mary Kipp, El Paso Electric President. “El Paso Electric, the El Paso Independent School District and the EPISD Education Foundation are united in a commitment to providing resources to students interested in STEM Careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), which are critical to the future of our workforce and the economic development of our community. We look forward to a strong partnership with the new leadership at EPISD in our joint support of students and teachers."
Board President Russell Wiggs praised El Paso Electric for their commitment to education and STEM initiatives.

The Education Foundation supports innovation in teaching and learning and scholarships through corporate partnerships, fundraising events and an employee giving campaign.
The EPISD Education Foundation was established in 1994 to provide opportunities for excellence in education, promote innovation in teaching, and partner with the community to enhance the education for all students. Since its inception 20 years ago, the EPISD Education Foundation has awarded more than $1.4 million in college scholarships and classroom impact grants including $74,000 in college scholarships and $15,000 in classroom impact grants this year.
This year, the EPISD Education Foundation is establishing establish advisory committees for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Fine Arts and Athletics to provide programmatic oversight and assistance with fundraising to further the goals in these areas. The Foundation also has partnered with the Paso del Norte Foundation to provide fiscal support services to the growing Education Foundation to ensure the highest level of transparency and accountability.
