El Paso Electric Announces Promotions

El Paso Electric is pleased to announce the following promotions:

H. Wayne Soza was promoted to Vice President of Compliance, Risk Management, and Human Resources.  His responsibilities include oversight of El Paso Electric’s compliance and enterprise risk management programs, as well as human resources.  Soza joined El Paso Electric in 2006 and has served in various capacities. Prior to EPE, Soza served as Vice-President for Archstone Communities, a real estate investment trust company, and as a Senior Manager for Ryan and Company.  He also worked for more than 18 years at El Paso Natural Gas Company.  Soza serves as President- Elect of the Edison Electric Institute Risk Management Committee.  He is also a member of the Task Force for Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited.  He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.  His civic and community affiliations include Leadership El Paso, past board member of the Child Crisis Center, Kiwanis of El Paso member, United Way and YMCA youth coach.

Marybeth Stevens was promoted to Assistant Vice President of External Affairs and Public Relations.  She will serve as the liaison with local government and will also oversee EPE’s Public Relations Office.  Stevens is a graduate of U.T. Austin where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature.  She earned her law degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and is licensed in Maryland and D.C.  Prior to joining El Paso Electric in 2010, she worked as a consultant on a number of USAID-funded projects in Mexico City relating to criminal justice reform and human trafficking.  From 1992-2001, she served as Senior Counsel for the American Council of Life Insurers where she represented the life insurance industry before a number of state legislatures and regulators, including Texas and New Mexico, as well as at the federal level.   She is a member of the Association of Women in Energy, the Executive Forum, and this year’s Leadership El Paso class.  She serves on the Board of the Women’s Fund of El Paso and the Anthony Chamber of Commerce and Chairs the Health Care Council of the Greater Chamber of Commerce.
