El Paso Electric Names New Vice President of Community Outreach

The El Paso Electric Board of Directors has appointed Guillermo Silva to serve as Vice President of Community Outreach.  In that position, Silva will be responsible for promoting and managing EPE's reputation and relationships in our community as well as working on and educating the community on key issues critical to the EPE’s success.

Silva has had an extensive 33-year career at EPE.  Prior to his appointment to Vice President of Community Outreach, he served as Corporate Secretary to the EPE Board of Directors.  He has also held various positions within the company, including Vice President of Information Services.

“In his more than 33 years at EPE, Willie has acquired the skills and networking capabilities suited for his new position,” said Mary Kipp, EPE Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. “His role will be critical in successfully positioning El Paso Electric to meet the challenges ahead.”

Silva is active in numerous community organizations. He is a founding member and Vice President of External Affairs for CommUNITY En Accion (CEA) where he also serves on the Corporate Governance Committee and is Chairman of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Committee.  Other organizations for which he serves include: the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce Education and Workforce Division member, the Project Arriba board of directors, the El Paso Community College Accounting/Business Advisory Committee, the Ysleta Education Foundation (board member and Vice President Development), the Policy Council for the Education Service Center Region 19 Head Start Program, and the Paso Del Norte Group Education Committee Council on Regional Economic Expansion and Educational Development. Silva is a former member of the Audit Committee of United Way, the American Heart Association, the Northeast Civic Association and the Ysleta Independent School District Steering Committee.

Silva earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in Finance from U. T. El Paso. He is a member of the American Society of Corporate Secretaries.
