The El Paso Electric Board of Directors today appointed Richard Turner to Vice President of Corporate Development. Richard will continue to oversee project management, process improvement activities, emerging technologies, renewable energy development, asset optimization and infrastructure initiatives, and new construction activities.
“Richard has been instrumental in El Paso Electric’s focus in renewable energy development and new technologies, and his wealth of expertise makes him the best choice to lead our Company’s Corporate Development initiatives,” said Rocky Miracle, Senior Vice President of Corporate Planning & Development and Chief Compliance Officer. “Identifying local leadership is very important for the future of our Company, and Richard’s leadership only reaffirms our commitment and responsibility to new cost-effective technologies and in particular our focus on large-scale solar energy development.”
Richard has been with EPE since 1988, holding various positions including Assistant Vice President and Director of Corporate Development, Corporate Project Manager, Regulatory Compliance and Reporting Manager, Supervisor of Regulatory Compliance and Resource Planning engineer. Richard has successfully led our development and integration of solar resources, making EPE a leader in utility-scale solar energy production that benefits all of our customers. Richard’s leadership and his team were also successful in securing the Department of Energy Smart Grid Investment Grant that led to the implementation of the Distribution Automation technology. He continues to lead his team in the construction of new generation resources for the Company.
Richard is a native El Pasoan, holding a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from University of Texas at El Paso. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and has certification as a Project Manager Professional from the Project Management Institute.
