On February 4, City of Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima presented the Mayor’s Quarterly Distinguished Service Award to El Paso Electric. The Mayor’s Award is presented to individuals or organizations that have distinguished themselves in service to the community and to others.
El Paso Electric has a long-standing record of community service in supporting events and organizations such as the Electric Holiday Light Show and Habitat for Humanity. Its long-term support of NMSU athletic and academic programs, especially in the engineering and business colleges, is well-noted, as is its commitment to economic development in the region. In addition, the volunteer efforts of El Paso Electric employees have assisted events that benefit the March of Dimes and the Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference.
“El Paso Electric is a wonderful community partner, and I am proud to present the company with this most deserving award,” said Mayor Miyagishima.
“We’re honored to receive this award on behalf of El Paso Electric employees,” said Tom Shockley, El Paso Electric Chief Executive Officer, who received the award. “It is our pleasure to sponsor and be a part of these community events that enrich the lives of so many. “
