I-10 Closure Required for the Border West Expressway Project

El Paso, TEXAS - El Paso Electric (EPE) and Level 3 Communications require an I-10 closure this Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. for work related to the TxDOT Border West Expressway project. I-10 will be closed from the Downtown Exit 19B to Executive Blvd. Exit 16. I-10 is scheduled to reopen by 2 p.m.

EPE will be removing transmission wires that cross I-10 and installing new distribution lines. Level 3 Communications will begin working on installing a new fiber wire as soon as EPE completes its portion of the work. Both jobs will be performed under the same closure timeframe.

The detours are as follows:

Westbound: Commuters will exit Downtown Exit 19B to Mesa Street. Commuters will turn right onto Mesa at I-10 to re-enter I-10 west.

Eastbound: Commuters will exit Executive Center Boulevard Exit 16 and make a left to Mesa Street. Commuters will make a right on Mesa Street to Franklin Avenue  and turn left onto Franklin to re-enter I-10 east.
