El Paso Electric Relaunches Customer Utility Assistance Program

to Help Families, Employees Already Raise $25,000

EL PASO, Texas – In an ongoing effort to connect families to utility payment assistance, El Paso Electric (EPE, or the Company), has officially relaunched it’s long-standing program called Project Care. A week-long fundraising campaign among EPE employees helped kick-start the Project Care program with a donation of over $25,000.

“We firmly believe our role in the communities we serve extends beyond providing energy solutions. To help our community power through challenging times, we established Project Care,” said EPE President and CEO Kelly A. Tomblin. “We launched an internal fundraising campaign among our 1,100 employees, and within just one week we were able to raise and donate to Project Care more than $25,000.”

Project Care is a customer assistance program available to any customer within EPE’s service territory to receive financial support if they are behind or struggling to pay their electric bill.

Anyone can donate to the Project Care fund. Every donation received is matched dollar-for-dollar by EPE. The program is managed by El Paso County General Assistance and the Salvation Army of New Mexico. Donations to Project Care can be made:

  • Via PayPal. (In the “NOTE” section indicate which state (TX or NM) you want the money allocated to.)
  • Mailing a check to O. Box 650801, Dallas, TX 75265.
  • Completing the form located on your electric bill and sending it with your payment.

“From the onset of the pandemic, we have worked with several organizations throughout our region to connect our customers to the financial assistance they need while also developing ways EPE can work with the families we serve,” shares EPE’s Director of Customer Care Joe Garibay. “We believe the generosity of our community will be matched by the same valiant effort our EPE team showed in their donation of $25,000 to this needed program.”

EPE customers who need this type of support should contact the Company’s Customer Care Team at 1-800-592-1634 or by email at CustomerCare@epelectric.com today.
