FREEWAY CLOSURE: Motor Vehicle Accident Damages Electric Pole

Requiring Freeway Closure For Repair

EL PASO, Texas – A semi-truck crashed into an El Paso Electric (EPE) pole on Stevens Street at Gateway Boulevard East in Central El Paso. EPE crews will need to replace the electric pole and cross electric wires over Interstate 10. This work will require a full closure along Interstate 10 in this area in both directions from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Freeway closures are being coordinated with Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) and El Paso Police Department (EPPD).

Westbound Traffic

Commuters will need to exit Interstate 10 at U.S. 54, and may re-enter at Copia.

Eastbound Traffic

Commuters will need to exit Interstate 10 at Copia, and may re-enter at Raynolds.

Anyone who typically travel in this area should avoid it and take alternative routes like Loop 375, the Border West Expressway or other surface streets.

There are no power outages reported as a result of this motor vehicle accident.

EPE crews will work as quickly and safely as possible to replace the electric pole and to have the Freeway reopen. Commuters are reminded to travel safe and to respect all construction barricades and reduced speed limits.
