EPE recently unveiled its newest initiative that will drive more than $1.2 million of investment in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, education and outreach across its Southern New Mexico service area – the Transportation Electrification Plan, or TEP. “The approval of this plan takes us one step forward in meeting our mission to transform the energy landscape in order to meet the evolving, growing needs of our customers,” shares EPE President and CEO Kelly A. Tomblin. “We are excited about these incentives and benefits it will create for our environment. Education is key and will be available to all of our customers to help support the electrification of transportation and the evolving technology that comes with it.” EPE’s TEP is a two-year plan is aimed at increasing the number of EV adoptions by incentivizing the installation and usage of smart charging infrastructure through rebate and pilot rate programs. The TEP will also address the challenges associated with the lack of awareness of both the technology and benefits of EVs, which there are many. EPE’s Senior Director of Innovation and Sustainability Jessica Christianson shares: “Transportation serves as the second highest contributor to air pollution, and with the proven fact that EVs can save families thousands of dollars in fuel and maintenance costs, this initiative is extremely important in meeting prudent environmental goals to better serve our community.”   EPE names Eric Montgomery a Regional Director of Government Affairs El Paso Electric (EPE) calls on talent within the Company’s service area to help manage government affairs by naming Eric Montgomery as a Regional Director of Government Affairs. Eric joins a strong government affairs team and will manage EPE’s Southern New Mexico service territory that stretches from Anthony to Hatch, NM. “Eric has an expansive career backed by a robust work portfolio that speaks volumes to his dedication and passion for elevating and promoting our region,” said EPE Regional Vice President of New Mexico Government Affairs Rico Gonzales. “The growth and expansion of our region depends heavily on its economic development initiatives, and an integral piece to that is the role EPE has in that growth. We are glad to welcome Eric to the EPE team as he will help guide the Company’s strategy to include stakeholders that will drive EPE’s initiatives forward to ultimately better serve our customers.” Eric’s background includes over a decade of both public- and private-sector economic development experience in New Mexico and several years of corporate sales and management. In the last 10 years, Eric has worked with locating and expanding economic-base companies throughout Dona Ana County that have announced over 6,500 new jobs, over $567 million in capital investment, and $200 million in new annual payroll.
