Transportation Electrification Plan (“TEP”)

El Paso Electric (EPE) continues its drive toward a greener and more sustainable future with the approval of its Transportation Electrification Plan (TEP) from the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC). The overarching goal of this plan is to increase the use of electric vehicles (EVs) by incentivizing the installation and usage of smart charging infrastructure through rebate and pilot rate programs while addressing the challenges associated with the lack of awareness of both the technology and benefits of EVs. EPE’s TEP will launch on January 1, 2022 and includes $1.2 million budget which may be expanded based on customer demand with an additional approval by NMPRC.

El Paso Electric (EPE) continua su camino hacia un futuro más verde y sostenible con la aprobación de su Plan de Electrificación del Transporte (TEP; por sus siglas en inglés) de la Comisión Pública de Regulación de Nuevo México (NMPRC; por sus siglas en inglés). El objetivo principal de este plan es aumentar el uso de vehículos eléctricos (EVs) otorgando incentivos para la instalación y el uso de infraestructura inteligente de carga a través de programas de descuento y de tarifas piloto, y al mismo tiempo, abordar los retos relacionados con la falta de concienciación sobre tanto la tecnología como los beneficios de los EVs. El programa TEP de EPE comenzará el día 1 de enero del 2022 e incluye un presupuesto de $1.2 millones que podrá expandirse en base a la demanda del consumidor con la autorización adicional de la NMPRC.

Residential Programs

EPE offers two residential rebate pilot programs that will target customers that own or are in the process of purchasing EVs.

EPE offers a variety of commercial rebate pilot programs including Workplace and Public Smart Charging, Multi-Unit Dwelling (MUD) Smart Charging, DCFC Smart Charging, and Public Transit and Customer Fleet Smart Charging.

Customer Outreach Program

EPE’s Customer Outreach Program is focused on public education about overall benefits of EVs, types of charging, available incentives, rebate programs, rate options to incentivize off‑peak charging; and engagement with external stakeholders for the development of EV-ready infrastructure.
