El Paso Electric Donates $5,000 Worth of Warm Blankets to the Extreme Weather Task Force

EL PASO, Texas (November 20, 2023) – El Paso Electric (EPE) is proud to partner with the Extreme Weather Task Force in their mission to safeguard vulnerable individuals and families. EPE donated $5,000 worth of warm blankets for families during this cold weather season.

“Our belief in the power of collective action drives us to work hand-in-hand with the Extreme Weather Task Force,” states Kelly Tomblin, president and CEO of El Paso Electric. “We hope our donation of blankets makes a meaningful impact to families affected by the winter season. We are committed to continuing our important work as a community partner.”

During the past two years, the Extreme Weather Task Force has collected and delivered 1,176 free blankets to the elderly and needy families in our community.

“Some of the poorest families we’ve seen, especially in the Colonias, don’t have any heat source in their homes,” said Grace Ortiz, Extreme Weather Task Force Chair and Community Engagement Specialist with Adult Protective Services. “It’s the elderly and the children who suffer the most.”
