El Paso Electric to Perform Transmission Work Along Gateway Boulevard East

El Paso, Texas – As part of an infrastructure upgrade project to increase grid capacity and reliability, El Paso Electric (EPE) crews will continue work on transmission lines adjacent to I-10 along Gateway Boulevard East between Corral Dr. and Diesel Dr. from Tuesday, December 18 to Thursday, December 20 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day.

Corral Drive will be closed from Lariat Street to Gateway Blvd East.

The infrastructure upgrade is in the final stages. The work is needed to allow EPE crews to safely install and transfer wire onto new structures. There will be no disruption to local electric service to customers.

This work is being coordinated with the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of El Paso’s Traffic Department. El Paso Police will be on site along the entire work area in case any other intersection will need to be temporarily closed; however, no other intersections are scheduled for closure.

Traffic control will be in place to safely guide commuters through the work area. Closure information may be found in the map (attached) and at epelectric.com. EPE reminds commuters to follow all marked detours and to stay safe.
