Felina Solar Resource: EPE Leads the Charge in Texas' Renewable Energy Revolution

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Electric (EPE) is proud to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for its newest endeavor, the Felina Solar Resource in Fabens, Texas. This monumental project marks a significant step forward in EPE's commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

The Felina Solar Resource, a 150 MW solar facility, exemplifies EPE's dedication to renewable energy initiatives. A notable feature of this project is the allocation of 50 MW specifically designated for EPE's groundbreaking Texas Business Community Solar Program, pending regulatory approval. This innovative program is tailored to empower mid to large commercial, industrial, educational and non-military governmental customers with access to solar energy solutions.

"As we break ground on the Felina Solar Resource, we're not merely laying foundations; we're building a legacy of sustainability and innovation. This project stands as a testament to EPE’s commitment to driving positive change in our energy landscape,” said Kelly Tomblin, President and CEO of EPE. “Through the Texas Business Community Solar Program, we're not just providing power; we're fostering a future where businesses can thrive while championing renewable solutions. EPE is proud to lead the charge towards an affordable, cleaner tomorrow."

This groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of a new era in sustainable energy for EPE and its customers. By providing flexible, cost-effective, and transferrable solar solutions, EPE is paving the way for a brighter, cleaner future for Texas and beyond.

“DEPCOM is extremely proud to be partnered with El Paso Electric on this utility scale solar photovoltaic project,” said Robert Wanless, DEPCOM Power’s Vice President of Business Development. “Felina Solar is a 150 MW project that will have close to 340,000 solar panels, which will shift daily from east to west on a 1-axis tracker racking system. The project will produce roughly 450,000 megawatt hours annually. The project will provide between 250 to 300 full time jobs during construction.”
