To ensure that our customers' growing energy needs continue to be met, we’re committed to providing reliable energy by innovating our energy generation and portfolio.
In order to achieve this, we’re replacing three older and less efficient generation units with Newman Unit 6 — a new, state-of-the-art 228-megawatt natural gas replacement unit built on an existing site. Its completion will help ensure long-term energy generation capabilities while improving our environmental impact like saving 600 million gallons of water per year.

Tripling Solar Resources and Utility Scale Battery Storage
In a continued effort to expand our solar and renewable energy resources, we will incorporate electricity from two solar facilities to be constructed: a 100 megawatt (MW) solar facility in Santa Teresa, New Mexico and a 100 MW solar facility combined with 50 MW of battery storage. This 50 MW battery storage project will be EPE’s very first utility-scale battery storage resource – a game changer in how we will harness the power of the sun.
The added generation resources will help meet our community’s projected 2022-2023 summer peak seasons energy demand.

We’re proud to offer several energy efficiency programs and rebates designed to help our Texas and New Mexico customers get the most out of their energy bills.
