El Paso Electric Making Changes to Provide Better Customer Service: More than 100 Convenient Payment Locations Available

More than 100 convenient third-party payment locations available throughout our region

EL PASO, Texas – Post-COVID-19, El Paso Electric (EPE) continues to see a major increase in both mail-in and online payment options and customer adoption of EPE’s digital and phone communication channels. As a result, traffic to EPE’s four walk-in payment centers has significantly decreased. To provide additional resources to the most utilized customer communication channels, EPE will be closing its two walk-in payment centers in Texas by January 13, 2023 and its two New Mexico payment centers by February 10, 2023.

“Our customers’ shift to digital and phone channels has proven to be the way that customers want to contact us and pay their bill,” said Robert Heimer, Director of Customer Care at EPE. “During the summer season, we saw call center wait times reach an ultimate high and that’s when we knew we needed to enhance the customer experience. Once our payment centers close, we will shift our payment center service representatives to phone, chat, and email and this move will assist in reducing customer wait times without increasing overall staffing.”

Customers can contact EPE’s customer service team via email at customercare@epelectric.com, by chat at epelectric.com or by phone at 1-800-592-1634.

EPE recognizes that some customers will continue to pay their energy bills in cash, so EPE will continue to offer two options for doing so: at our payment kiosks and at more than 100 convenient third-party payment locations throughout our service territory, that stretches from Hatch, New Mexico, to Van Horn, Texas.
