El Paso Electric Names Daniel Perez Regional Director of Government Affairs

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Electric (EPE) turns to talent from within to help manage government affairs for the Company by naming Daniel Perez as Regional Director of Government Affairs.

“Daniel will offer a unique perspective to his new role as he has successfully served El Paso Electric over the last nine years as an engineer and supervisor in our Innovation and Sustainability Team,” shares EPE Vice President of Regulatory and Government Affairs Jim Schichtl. “At EPE we are committed to transforming the energy landscape and by having Daniel with his environmental engineering background serve our Company and community in this manner will allow him to work with our stakeholders in a way that will drive economic growth and advance opportunities for our customers.”

Daniel Perez joined EPE in 2012 and most recently served as Environmental Supervisor in the Innovation and Sustainability Team. In his new role, Daniel will work with local and state representatives, community and business groups along with other external stakeholders to address initiatives related to EPE, including economic development initiatives.

Prior to EPE, Daniel worked at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold as an environmental engineer and with the City of El Paso as an engineering technician. As a native El Pasoan, it is very important to Daniel to serve the community he works in. Daniel was part of the El Paso Chamber’s Leadership El Paso Class 42, frequently volunteers at STEAM (Science, Technology, Education, Arts, and Mathematics) events, and has consistently served as EPE’s Team Captain for YWCA El Paso del Norte Region’s Walk-A-Mile event.

Daniel Perez received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso. Daniel currently serves on the Downtown Deck Plaza Foundation Advisory Committee, the YWCA Paso del Norte Region’s Walk-A-Mile Men’s Advisory Committee, and is an active member for Progress 321.
