El Paso Electric Recognizes El Paso Independent School District as Top Performer in Energy Efficiency Program

EL PASO, Texas The El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) has been recognized as a top performer in the 2022 SCORE program. The program, which incentivizes energy efficiency projects, is administered by CLEAResult as the program implementer and El Paso Electric (EPE) is the program sponsor.

EPISD submitted projects that incentivized high-efficient measures at 12 schools, resulting in $102,916.80 in incentives. By choosing high-efficient products over standard efficient products, these projects are estimated to save 428.82 kilowatts (kW) and 2,558,433 kilowatts per hour (kWh) annually, which translates to $307,011.96 in electric utility billings (estimated at 12 cents per kWh).

EPISD has been the top performer in the SCORE program every year since 2019, receiving $338,474.40 in incentives for projects submitted by EPE's SCORE Program. These projects, which incentivized high-efficient measures at 35 schools, are expected to save 1,410.31 kW and 8,325,642 kWh annually, translating to $999,077.04 in electric utility billings.

In addition to the cost savings, the projects are expected to provide significant environmental benefits, including avoidance of power plant emissions equivalent to 614 metric tons of CO2, avoidance of car traveling emissions equivalent to 1,524,074 miles, and avoidance of electrical energy equivalent to powering 119 homes.

EPISD's achievements were celebrated during the EPISD board meeting on March 21, 2023, where a check presentation was made by EPE.
