El Paso Electric Texas Customers to See Bill Reductions Beginning February 2023

El Paso Electric files to reduce fuel charge by 62.5%

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Electric Company (EPE) is pleased to announce that our Texas customers will see a reduction on their utility bill beginning February 2023. An average residential customer will see a monthly savings of $12.90 on their winter utility bill.

EPE filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas a 62.5% decrease to the fuel charge that will result in a significant reduction for Texas customers. EPE reviews the fuel charge on an interim basis and adjusts accordingly.

"We are pleased to be able to pass through this significant reduction in costs to our customers because we are committed to providing affordable and reliable energy, and this proposed reduction is a step towards that goal," said David Hawkins, Vice President of System Operations and Resource Strategy. "Along with this customer fuel reduction, we always encourage customers to be aware of their energy usage and take advantage of our energy-saving programs like Time-of-Day rates, and energy efficiency incentives.”

This fuel charge reduction will provide our customers with immediate relief and bring about more benefits to customers as we continue investing in infrastructure and other initiatives like smart meters.
