El Paso Electric Employees Celebrate Earth Day by Planting 150 Trees in El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (April 22, 2025) - In celebration of Earth Day, more than 50 El Paso Electric (EPE) employees rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty to give back to the environment by planting 150 trees in El Paso.

The volunteer effort included the planting of Chinese Pistache, Red Oak and Honey Mesquite trees — all selected for their drought tolerance and ability to thrive in our desert climate. This initiative not only contributes to beautifying local neighborhoods but also supports urban shade, cleaner air, and long-term sustainability goals.

The planting locations were chosen in coordination with the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation and local partners to support green spaces in areas that benefit most from added canopy and cooling effects.

This Earth Day effort reflects EPE’s broader commitment to sustainability, which includes expanding renewable energy resources, promoting electrification, and supporting programs that build climate resilience across West Texas and Southern New Mexico.
