El Paso Electric Issues 2026 Expression of Interest for Upcoming Request for Proposals
El Paso Electric Company (EPE) has launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) to identify and engage with potential developers for the region's upcoming energy projects. Published on March 2, 2026, this EOI serves as a preliminary step to gather market interest, specifically on demand-side solutions, including Innovative load management, demand response, distributed energy resources, and efficiency programs. EPE is also seeking interest from emerging technologies including, but not limited to, geothermal, long-duration energy storage (LDES), and carbon-compliant thermal generation capable of meeting New Mexico’s 2045 carbon-free mandate. This EOI is being published prior to the release of the official Request for Proposals (RFP). The goal is to secure new energy resources that balance system reliability with sustainability and regulatory standards. Interested parties are encouraged to submit a brief response to ensure a competitive bidding environment.
