The overarching goal of this two-year plan is to increase the use of electric vehicles (EVs) by incentivizing the installation and usage of smart charging infrastructure through rebate and pilot rate programs while, addressing the challenges associated with the lack of awareness of both the technology and benefits of EVs.

Books are Gems, a local nonprofit bookstore that provides free books to children, suffered damages to over 8,000 new books overnight back in August of this year caused by a broken water heater. The COVID-19 pandemic suddenly affected thousands of families; however, the Food Bank continues to provide the community with emergency food boxes throughout El Paso and Hudspeth counties, which are part of EPE’s service region. This is why EPE has launched the POWER-ful Giving Campaign to benefit the Food Bank. El Paso, TEXAS – On Monday, July 13, 2020, El Paso Electric Company (EPE) customers set a new peak demand for electricity of approximately 2,173 megawatts (MW), 9.5% or 188 MW higher than the peak established in 2019. This is the highest level of energy demand growth on record and it also surpasses EPE’s 2020 peak demand forecast and reaches peak demand levels that were expected in 2026.

College students will participate in an eight-week career-development program with an EPE department related to their field of study, as well as lead a corporate social responsibility project as part of EPE’s community outreach initiatives. EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Electric (EPE) will be installing three new distribution circuits from the Ripley Substation in west El Paso to accommodate increasing electricity usage in the upper valley area. This work will require an overnight road closure along Doniphan Drive between Mesa Street / Country Club Road and Sunset Road from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday, August 21 and 22. This work will also require temporary closure of the BNSF train tracks in this same area. The far right lane will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both east and westbound directions until EPE crews complete the work needed along the utility bridge entrance access points.

TIO is a third-party provider of mobile payment applications and other payment technologies for many companies, including El Paso Electric’s mobile pay application, MobilePay. In November, TIO suspended its operations, and as a result, El Paso’s MobilePay became unavailable.
